Aerial Silks Equipment for Rigging at Home

Video

Description

DISCLAIMER: It has been brought to my attention that the Zen Junkie ceiling mount in this video is not a safe piece of hardware to use for aerial rigging at home. Please see some of the comments below for more information. I would never want to promote something that could potentially harm or injure anyone, so using this ceiling mount would be AT YOUR OWN RISK. My set up is AT MY OWN RISK, in that I understand the risk of injury if the hardware fails while in use.

For more context, I rigged my aerial silks (using the ceiling mount in this video) on a 9-foot ceiling directly into a load-bearing ceiling joist in my garage. Considering all the hardware, I only get about 7 feet of silks to use, and that is not high enough to allow me to do any drops or other extreme moves. Furthermore, I weigh ~100 lbs. which is not as heavy as some aerial artists who have a lot of muscle mass. I also have floor pads directly underneath my rigging.

My videos document WHAT I DID PERSONALLY and may be informative to people who may want to rig at home, BUT AGAIN, DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. When in doubt, PLEASE CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL RIGGER and check out this Facebook group for more helpful info:
