These poses are aerial fundamentals help strengthen the arms, shoulders, and abs!

Wrist Wrap – Stand to face the hammock (or aerial silks) and wrap your arms around the fabric like you are giving it a hug. Reach around halfway and grab the fabric. You should have one loop of fabric across the front of your wrists. This is an easy wrap to get into but it requires good grip strength to hold this way while inverting.

Wrist Lock – Get into your wrist wrap, then wrap your hands around one more time. This is a much tighter hold and easier for beginners to practice inversions, pull-ups, and jump-ups out of this pose. Be careful that the fabric is not too tight around your wrists and limit the time you spend in wrist locks.

Knee-Ups – From your Wrist Wrap or Wrist Lock, pull or jump yourself into a hold. Your arms should be bent at your side. It takes upper body strength to hold this position. Simply jumping and trying to get here is a great practice for beginners. If you can hold yourself, bring your knees up to your chest in repetitions to strengthen the lower abs.

Egg Inversions – From your Wrist Wrap or Wrist Lock, step your dominant leg behind you. Use this leg to propel yourself upside down into an egg shape. Hold for as long as comfortable to develop upper body strength.
