How I train for upcoming hikes – lazy person edition
Video
Description
How I train for my upcoming hikes as lazy person (or a busy person who’s busy all but on the regular training side of the life…).

Please note that I’m not an expert and if you have any questions please consult to a proper trainer.
My short summary of how I prepare:
NEPAL VERSION:
Started 2 months before.
Gym approx. 40-50 min, 2x per week, with full body gym routine.
After gym session walking on the treadmill 15-20 min with 6-10 degree incline.
On weekends hiking with a weighted backpack around 1h, if possible then on a hilly trail.
NEW ZEALAND VERSION:
Started 2 months before.
Home workout along YouTube training videos (I searched “body weight workout” or “full body workout at home”) 1x per week, then switched to yoga (vinyasa flow, ashtanga), 2x per week.
Walking on treadmill with weighted backpack (75% of the weight I will be carrying on the trail) 1h, 2x per week. Incline on 8-10 percent.
MOST IMPORTANT! I plan my trip according to my physical abilities, meaning I will be realistic and will not plan long days as I know I will not enjoy them. Ditch all the expectations you or others have on you and plan the hike according to your physical abilities. AND ENJOY! π
