Description
Mantras, or transcendental sounds, have great power. They descend to us from the spiritual realm throught a line of perfect masters. Mantras free a person from anxiety and cultivate love in one’s heart. Just by associating with these spiritual sounds we receive wonderful benefit.
Like swans, drinking only pure nectar of blossoming lotus, the liberated souls drink only from the spring of transcendental love. Mantra meditation is the door to another world, the world of pure love, harmony and true happiness. This world is not a geographical place, it’s a state of consciousness. No need to try to get there by your own strength, you can travel on a safe ship of ancient mantras.
Mantra is a combination of transcendental sounds. For thousands of years sages used mantras for self-realization. The Sanskrit word “mana” means “mind” and “trayah” — “liberation.” Thus, the mantra frees our mind from anxiety. It has cleansing effect and allows a person to rise from the material to the spiritual level.
“All glories to the congregational chanting and singing of God’s names, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years together, and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This congregational chanting of the names of God is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.
O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names, like Krishna and Govinda. In these transcendental names, you have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach you by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.
One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street; one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly”.
These are the prayers of Lord Chaitanya, the incarnation of God, who came to the Earth to teach the process of mantra meditation for the current age we live in, and to show us by his personal example how to practice it.
