Yoga Nidra – In Sanskrit: योग निद्रा also known as yogic sleep or Psychic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, also known as subconscious state, you are neither complete sleeping nor awaken.
It’s like the “going-to-sleep” stage. It is a state in which the body and mind is completely relaxed and the practitioner becomes systematically and progressively aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions as it’s in this Yoga Nidra in Hindi.
This state of consciousness is different from meditation in which it’s important that you are in seated position as well as concentration on a single focus is required.
In yoga nidra the practitioner is in laying on the ground position and remains in a state of light nonexistence of the 5 senses (pratyahara) with four of the senses internalised, that is in, light nonexistence, and only the hearing still connects to the instructions of the guide.
So the body and mind relax and consciousness is active through the hearing.
The goal of both practice is to get deep relaxation and meditation are the same. Yoga Nidra in hindi is the deepest achievable states of relaxation while still cultivate full consciousness.
The practice of yogic nidra the relaxation has been found to reduce tension and anxiety and have used for subconscious healing similarly as psychotherapy. Psychic sleep refers to the conscious awareness of the deep sleep state.
