Short Yoga nidra meditation for Relaxation and Rejuvenation
Video
Description
Yoga Nidra is a state of awareness between wakefulness and sleep. In the space we can bring relief to the physical body, nervous system and the mind. Nidras should be practiced in a comfortable position with supports if needed around and under the joints. The body should be kept warm throughout, so wear warm blankets and thick socks. Turn the lights off or use an eye bag to help settle the mind and body more easily. It doesn’t matter if you fall asleep during the practice your body and subconscious will still reap the rewards.
On a practical level nidras can be practiced at any time of day but don’t practice whilst driving or operating any dangerous equipment. Make sure you have time to come out of your nidra state and fully waken the sense before moving on with the rest of your day.
The more you practice the more quickly you will be able to entire the space that is Yoga Nidra awareness. Yoga Nidra is to help the practioner develop a gentle, kind approach to themelves, to welcome themselves fully as they would a dear friend.
Yoga Nidra allows you to drop into a sleep-like state with relaxed brainwave activity. Slow alpha waves, and even slower theta waves, produce deep relaxation and are the entry points to the subconscious. In this state, you can make a conscious crossover from the logical left brain to the intuitive right brain, connected to the field of conscious pranic intelligence, where intention is carried out spontaneously and effortlessly.
One purpose of yoga and Yoga Nidra is to initiate the integrative process that balances the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and the left and right brain. Establishing awareness in the Third Eye sets off the powerful, integrative forces of homeostasis; the natural balance of polarity. With the removal of all surface and subtle tensions and entry into deeply integrated space, you simultaneously enter the state of communion with the divine, luminous, radiant, omnipresent presence.
